Advancing the profession of technical communication across New Mexico

Marilyn E. Ward
Co-VP Programs

Marilyn WardMarilyn Ward has been a technical communicator for more than 25 years.

She moved to New Mexico in 2008 from the Dallas, Texas, area where she spent most of her technical career. She was one of the first women on the Lone Star Chapter Board, focusing her skills on telecommunications and large computer hardware systems.

She has worn technical marketing, writing, editing, training, and project management hats as she switched from hardware into the digital software and database fields working at Texas Instruments, Nortel, GTE (now Verizon), NEC America, Amtech Corporation, Alcatel (formerly Digital Switch Corporation), and Fujitsu Network Communications.

She is especially proud that she has been on the front lines in technologies such as industrial pollution control (United McGill Corporation), voice messaging systems (VMX, Inc.), and digital broadband (Alcatel and Fujitsu), and has seen these business-to-business products come into the home.

She has won awards for many of the product and end-user manuals she has designed and written, as well as for efficiently managing projects.

She holds a BA in Journalism (News/PR) with honors from The Ohio State University, as well as continuing education certifications in business management, software development, quality assurance, safety, telecommunications installations, and programming. She has not only honed skills in adult education, but developed and taught the Technical Writing Certificate Program for Dallas-based Richland College.
